2 Communications
Good communication is vital in order to ensure that every student in the Sixth Form has the chance to benefit from every opportunity offered to them. You need to know what is expected of you, and about all the events/proceedings that happen frequently in the Sixth Form.
Before you became a 6th form student, you had tutorial every morning, where you would be given any relevant information and register would be taken. This is not appropriate in the 6th Form, but you DO have tutorial once a week with your Form Tutor, either Wednesday morning or Thursday morning, depending on what year you are in. Attending this tutorial is mandatory, and register will be taken, so you are advised to quickly find out the day of the week on which you are expected to attend. We also, as the whole of the 6th form, meet together once every two weeks, at tutorial time, in the Lecture Theatre. This gives us all chance to raise any issues, both students and staff, and pass on important information. The day will be decided at the beginning of term, and again it is mandatory that you attend.
Another way of passing on information is via the whiteboards and notice boards in the 6th Form Study Centre. Mr. Benson, Senior Post-16 Tutor, and your Form Tutors, use a whiteboard to relay all sorts of generic information. Mrs. Kirk, your Year Tutor, uses another whiteboard for school and social events, and financial information. You MUST visit the Study Centre regularly in order to access the information you need.
The school email system is also regularly used to cascade information, both to individuals and to groups. Again, it is vital you check into your email account regularly to access this information.

It is part of the official Post-16 Learning Agreement, which you have accepted and signed, that you should know what is going on. It is your responsibility to ensure you use all methods of communication open to you, and if you are constantly saying ‘I didn’t know I had to . . . . . ’ , you are in fact breaking your Learning Agreement
