Year 7 seven-a-side tournament

15 November 2023 (by admin)

Well done to our Year 7 footballers who finished fourth in a very strong seven-a-side tournament last night - Tuesday, 14th November.

Their opening match resulted in a 0-0 draw against a strong Beverley Longcroft team, with Will Turnbull making a number of fine saves and Bobby Wilkinson blocking a goal-bound shot on the line.

WHS then played Holderness Academy and, despite losing 3-0, were more than in the game throughout with Joe Houghton hitting the post and also forcing a great save from the goalkeeper.

A very strong Beverley Grammar team were next, comprising a number of academy players. The eventual tournament winners won this game 4-0.

In the final game, WHS played Bridlington’s Headlands School and a strong performance saw us win 2-0, with Joe Houghton scoring both goals.

Well done to: Will Turnbull, Bobby Wilkinson, Tommy Spruce, Mason McBride, Archie Priest, Logan Gemmell, Joe Houghton, Jake Thompson and Will Galtrey.

Bobby Wilkinson was voted the players’ player of the tournament.
