East Riding Cross Country Championships

10 November 2023 (by admin)

30 students from WHS took part in the East Riding Cross Country Championships at Cottingham High School. This was a wonderful turn out to represent the school and a huge improvement from last year, with all students keen to get going!

The conditions were particularly soggy and muddy, but that did not deter any of the runners. The weather stayed calm for the first few races, and then the heavens opened! Our intermediate runners had to complete the course in awful conditions which made it even more challenging. Overall, the students performed well and showed resilience and determination to complete the course in the best time possible.

With over 100 runners in most races it was a very competitive occasion. Highlights from the morning include Jack Doyle (Year 7) finishing in the top 10 and Caitlyn Walker (Year 7) finishing 13th. Both students have now qualified for the next round in January.

Withernsea fielded full teams in the Minor and Junior categories for both boys and girls, which is a great achievement.

Well done to: Archie Priest, Jack Doyle, Will Galtrey, Levi Fisk, Curtis Rogers, Arry Amin, Sam Day, Mason McBride, Maddie Spaven, Caitlyn Walker, Annabelle Hayton, Hayley Bloor, Mylie Gardner, Ava Shaw, Charles Graham, Charlie Palmer, Logan Betts, Harry Fawcett, Ian Bloor, Joe Wilson, Jack Law, Jayden Newton , Millie Campbell, Lily Barker, Crystal Hayton, Darcey Wilson and Summer Reid.

We are looking forward to next year already!
