Year 10 Theatre Trip

On Wednesday 3rd November, the Year 10 Drama cohort visited Hull Truck Theatre to watch a performance of 'Sunny Side Up' - the new play by leading playwright John Godber.

As part of their on-going studies, the students have explored the techniques used in Mr Godber’s plays by both analysing and performing elements of his work in their recent lessons.

It was therefore beneficial for the students to visit the theatre and watch a live professional performance, starring the playwright himself, which will help them to further develop their knowledge and understanding in a way that learning in the classroom can not always fully replicate.

Assistant Headteacher, and Teacher of Drama, Richard Mabbott commented: 'It was a delight to take our students to experience live theatre and for them to see the words that we study in the classroom come to life on the stage.

As the expansion of the Arts provision continues to develop in school, we hope that this will be the first of many live performances attended by our students during this academic year.'

All of the students who attended the trip were a true credit to the school, with audience members commenting on their high levels of maturity and respect.'

With auditions for the school production of 'School of Rock' taking place this half term, the annual dance show making a return in March and Year 10 Music gigs taking place in December, it is an exciting time within the Creative Arts faculty with plenty of opportunities on the horizon for students to develop their creative side.
