After School Club

Students in all years will soon benefit from extra support with their studies thanks to the launch of a brand new after school club.

The club, which will run in the HLC every Monday to Thursday night after school, will offer access to a range of resources to help students with their studies.

It will be split over two rooms, with Key Stage 3 (Years 7 and 8) in HLC1 with Mr Inns and Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 and 11) in HLC4 with Miss Brown.

For students in Key Stage 3, the club will provide:

* a place to complete homework
* an opportunity to catch up on any missed work in lessons
* a chance to practice or improve in certain subjects
* access to computers, online learning resources and educational games
* a platform to talk to staff and ask any questions about work / homework.

For students in Key Stage 4, the club will offer:

* a place to revise
* a chance to complete homework / coursework
* access to computers and online resources
* a platform to talk to staff about anything you do not understand
* help to improve in subjects students may be struggling with.

The club will also offer students a calm and supportive environment, with a range of complimentary drinks and snacks being provided to help fuel their learning.

Club organiser Mr J Beattie (PPC) commented: ‘The after school club will offer an informal yet focussed opportunity for students to receive the help and support required for them to achieve their best.

The club is more than just a regular homework club, it is a place where students can feel confident in asking questions and relaxed in the knowledge that they will receive the help and support required to keep on top of their studies.’

The After School Club launches on Monday, 2nd December. It will run every Monday to Thursday between 3.25pm and 4.25pm in the HLC.

For students who live outside of Withernsea, the local HART Bus offers FREE transport to villages across the catchment area.

There are 14 seats available and places MUST be booked in advance at the front office. Places should be booked by no later than the end of lunchtime on the day of travel.

Please note: the HART Bus runs only on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and will depart from the front of school at 4.30pm prompt.

Alternatively, an EYMS 75 service bus will depart from Pier Road in Withernsea at 4.43pm, calling at Hollym (4.49pm), Patrington (4.55pm), Otrringham (5.04pm), Keyingham (5.08pm), Burstwick (5.15pm), Thorngumbald (5.20pm) and Hedon (5.27pm).

If students plan on using this service, we recommend that they leave school at no later than 4.25pm to ensure they arrive at the bus stop in plenty of time.

Please note: this is a regular service bus and standard EYMS travel charges will apply.
