Manchester Camerata Orchestra - Live at Withernsea High School

The latest event in a continuing association between Withernsea High School and the Manchester Camerata Orchestra takes place in the hall this week.

On the evening of Wednesday 17th July, the orchestra will return to the school for a special performance that is open to the general public. Tickets, priced £6 each, are available in advance from Withernsea Library or are available on the door. The event starts at 7pm.

The orchestra will be joined by young people from across the local area to celebrate Carnival Season with a fiesta of music designed to get people on their feet. Attendees can expect to hear excerpts from Bernstein's famous West Side Story and Ravel’s Bolero, alongside a range of other popular dance music.

Headteacher Mark Crofts commented: 'We are delighted to welcome the Manchester Camerata back to Withernsea High School and we look forward to hearing the compositions of our students performed by this world-famous collective.

Over the past two years, a large number of our students have benefited from workshops led by members of the orchestra. These have culminated in performances at Bridlington Spa and at Withernsea's Meridian Centre which have offered our students the unique experience of working with professional musicians in professional settings.

I am therefore proud that we can now facilitate a performance at the school for the benefit the entire school community.'
