Phil Page, Progress Leader for Sport and Performing Arts, commented: 'I am absolutely delighted that Alex is going to be given his chance to play professionally. He was always very talented at school, representing the school, East Riding and Humberside / Hull City. He was always an absolute pleasure to have in class, always willing to learn, focus and continually develop himself. We are really pleased that his hard work has paid off'

Headteacher Richard Williman added: 'We are delighted to hear of Alex's success and confirmation of signing professional terms for Peterborough United. He was a highly successful sportsman during his time at the school, showing great dedication to his football and gaining representative honours both locally and internationally. We wish him every success for the future.'

Alex was a student of Withernsea High School between 2008 and 2013.
