National Final at JCB Headquarters
GROUP of talented pupils from Withernsea High School
were invited to the JCB World Head Quarters at Uttoxeter, Staffordshire
on July 10 for the National final of the 4x4 in Schools Technology
Challenge.
Pupils Daniel Garton, Edward Garton, Adam Stephenson, Daniel Greaves, Nathan Sharp, John Turnbull and Ryan Gibson, along with school staff Mike Cox and Nick Bullock entered the competition.
The students joined other teams, of up to seven
pupils aged from 14 to 16, to compete in the regional finals across the
UK, and joined six other teams in winning a place at the National
final.
Withernsea Winners - Driving Experience
The team prize was a 4x4 driving
experience and VIP factory tour of the JCB factory.

The National Winners from Withernsea High School
won a single scholarship at Harper Adams.
Supported by JCB, this innovative challenge
raises awareness to children about the issues surrounding
environmentally friendly 4x4 vehicles.

The next generation of the 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge will see the introduction of a six- wheeled Lunar Buggy competition, in which students will design and manufacture all-terrain vehicles suitable for space exploration using both solar energy and battery power.
