Winners of 2009 Rock Challenge
After previous success in Rock Challenge the students
of Withernsea High School proudly lead in first place 2009.
Having already taken the overall first place in the northern heats, where the students won awards for Best Choreography, Best Performance Skills and Best Video Performance, their success continued in the Northern Open Finals where students walked away with overall first place again.
Withernsea High School is now in the Premier Division after their show stopping performances.
The Theme "The Crucible"
The theme ‘The Crucible’ was based on the famous novel
in which nineteen innocent men and women were hanged for witchcraft and
four died in jail awaiting their trial. The students involved
discovered fears, struggles and beliefs, not just as the people of
Salem, but as themselves entering the world of performance. The
excitement was contagious and adrenaline was high.
The 8 minute dance and drama piece was choreographed as part of the year 12 BTEC dance course and to say Withernsea High School won the award for Best Choreography was a major achievement for the girls.
We are all extremely proud of the commitment and successes of the students so far and we look forward to see what is in store for next year when we return as champions.
