1. Mission Statement

The aim of the Languages Department is to open pupils’ eyes and minds to the advantages of language learning in an ever-changing world.  We aim to equip them with both language learning skills and awareness of other cultures in order to play an effective role in our global society.

3. Student Activities

Through a wide range of teaching and learning strategies all pupils are encouraged to develop their knowledge about language and their cultural awareness.  Lessons are designed to develop the individual skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

We have established strong links with cluster primaries both through teacher visits and pupils being involved in the French Food and Drink Transition Event (link to pics of Y6 event).

Though the “Making Languages Our Business” event, our year 9 pupils work with pupils from other schools as well as students from Hull University and local business leaders to learn the value of languages. (link to MLOB pics)

Pupils have also had the opportunity to go on a trip to Disneyland Paris.  (link to Disney pics)
