Literature

We currently follow the AQA GCSE exam syllabus for Language, however, given the impending changes for 2010 we are in the process of investigating other boards to ensure that we have the most relevant exam board to allow access for all of our students.

Literature is taught in conjunction with English Language and is allocated 3 lessons a week over 2 years to ensure coverage of all components.

The coursework coverage consists of Shakespeare, Pre 1914 Prose study, Media and Original Writing.  The examination itself covers media and non fiction, poetry from other cultures and traditions and two writing tasks.

All coursework should be finished by October of Year 11 to ensure that adequate time is allowed for exam preparation
