1. Mission statement
The aim of the English department is to develop pupils’ English skills so that they emerge as well equipped, confident and articulate communicators in preparation for the outside adult world.

3. Student activities
Students learn the value of reading, writing and talking as a powerful means of understanding not only themselves but other people. A range of teaching activities ensure that learning is varied and enjoyable, allowing access to the curriculum for all our learners. Students are encouraged to be actively involved in their learning and to recognise the importance of being self managers.
